Here is some precious information for all those of you who are interested in the Swiss S2C-55, the ocean cruising catamaran launched by an ex-owner of a Switch 55.
The concept therefore remains that of a long-term cruising boat which is easy to handle, but has good performance and is above all pleasant to live aboard, both at sea and at anchor. To create this new 55-footer, Swiss has called on Swiss talent, with notably the designer of the Decision 35s, Sébastien Schmidt.
With its carbon mast, textile rig, daggerboards and square headed mainsail, the S2C55 should be presented at the next Cannes Boat Show.
All readers of Multihulls World are familiar with the
famous Switch 51 and 55, ocean cruising boats wich are particularly well-built and very pleasant to live aboard. The assets were bought by a proud Switch 55 owner. Today he is re-launching the concept with a new model, called the Swiss
S2C55 (so as not to be confused with the 'per cabin' charter company, Switch). Swiss Catamaran Concept has called on Swiss talent to
realise the new 55 footer, with notably the designer of the Decision 35: Sébastien Schmidt. A carbon mast, textile rigging, daggerboards, sqare-headed mainsail - the S2C-55 should be a real ocean cruising
boat capable of good average speeds. The catamarans will be built in Turkey and the first example will be launched during 2009...
